Play Day, Wednesday, April 12

So much curiosity and adventure today! We started the day with open art studio, and Sibyl was all about practicing their scissor skills. They immersed their self in collage cutting and pasting, while getting some really juicy fine motor skill development.

On our walk to the playground after art studio time, we found puddles for splashing and small things for investigating with our magnifying glass. Tommy, a recent member of our school community, is loving the slow pace of our neighborhood walks and the kids are loving having a furry friend around to love on. Lorax really appreciates the novelty of being responsible for Tommy's care. They took extra time to organize their suitcase, blankest, and treats, and later decided that Tommy's fur needed a good rub down with coconut oil.

After our morning walk we decided to work together in the garden to plant a few seedlings that were ready to be transplanted into their new home. We sang them a welcome song to help them settle into the garden, and committed to caring for them through the season. After planting we took some time to sit with and get to know our good friend and plant ally, Motherwort. Sibyl enthusiastically tuned in brought in all their senses to explore and engage with her in a profoundly beautiful and loving way. It was a delightful blessing to witness these two meeting each other for the first time.

After garden time we gathered for a lunch of vegetable soup with orange slices, followed by an afternoon of free play. Our group was all about doctor play and making sure each other were all good and healthy. There was even a clinic set up in the tree fort.

Later in the afternoon we embarked on a journey to our very own secret Fairy Forest. The journey took us across a lake, through a meadow, past a temple where were stopped to make offerings to the goddess, and offered us endless opportunities to stop and smell the spring flowers.

Once we got to Fairy Forest, we had just enough time for practicing our tree climbing skills before we noticed the dark and heavy storm clouds gathering above the trees. We quickly climbed out of the trees and made our way home, but got caught in a downpour of heavy rain. And the kids loved it. Tommy was a bit less enthralled by the storm and splashing water.

What a great day of play, adventure, and connection.

Thanks friends!
