Play Day, April
Today was so sunny and dry, we decided to set up our outdoor classroom and spend our day exploring and playing outside!
Our playschool's magnatile collection grew exponentially this week, and Lila was all about tinkering and building with them through the morning. Next we had an invitation to make a new batch of moon dough together. Lorax enthusiastically joined in the making, getting a ton of joy out of the mixing, kneading, and getting all goopy. Lila was less excited about the prospect of getting goopy, and preferred rather, to help us play after it was made. Through the morning, we had been noticing all the dandelions and appreciating how excited the honey bees were to be buzzing all around, gorging themselves on the abundance of spring time yum. We were curious about what would happen if we added some dandelions to our dough, and were surprised to find how sunny and yellow the handfuls of dandelion tops made it look and feel. We all agreed that it reminded us of summer time.
After moon dough play, we shared a snack of watermelon and cantaloupe, followed by a walk to Fairy Forest! With some encouragement, Lila found their tree climbing legs and adventured a bit of the way up one of the fir trees in our small neighborhood grove.
The rest of the day was all about immersing our senses in flowers and the spring blooms. We smelled so many flowers that we got downright dizzy and silly from all the perfumes and scents. We had a simple little ceremony in a small green meadow, and thanked the Green Blooded Beings and Mama Gaia for all the sensory pleasures here in this blooming time of the year. We also got a lot of practice in asking the flowers before picking, thanking them for their offering of beauty, and knowing how to look for whether or not a stand or plant is viable for harvesting.
On our way home, I suggested we stop by and offer a blessing of flowers to Quan Yin and her sanctuary, right around the corner from our school house. We were excited to see the trees in full bloom, surrounding her in pink clouds, and left an alter of all the flowers and blooms we had gathered in honor of her.
Thanks so much for another day of play, adventure, and connection.
All blessings,
Miz flow <3
