Play Day, Friday May 26th

What a busy and fun filled day of play today!

Lorax and Lila joined me for some morning time explorations and tending in the garden, and were thrilled to find several strawberries developing their juicy red colors. We watched for the abundance of lady bugs and bees flying around the garden, and sang them a special song to bless them in their work. We all got a lot of joy in seeing them so happy on a beautiful sunny day. Lorax helped with the watering, and had a bunch of sads about getting their favorite flower dress all wet. Lila encouraged Lorax by suggesting that they could just put on another on.

After garden time the tree fort was the place to be! Squeals of laughter and play spun out from the tree fort and filled the whole block with the sound of happy.

And after all that play, it was time for a snack of ripe melon and oat cakes, followed by musical play in the shade and our midday reading circle.

We shared a lunch of nut butter with banana slices on New Cascadia GF bread, frozen blueberries mixed with yogurt, orange slices, and a mix of nuts and dates. Hand washing post lunch turned into water play in the bathroom, and quite an interesting and collaborative story line unfolded in there!

We celebrated the first day of the splash pad season at one of our favorites, Essex Park, by packing up our park bags and spending the rest of the afternoon lounging, laughing, and playing in the water and on the playground.

Finally, back at our play school we enjoyed a nice sit under the gazebo and playing together in the most joyful way on the tree slide and hammock.

Thanks so much for a lovely day of play today friends!
