Today we adventured to Lone Fir cemetery to honor the dead, and to get some magical practice in building ancestor alters.
We spent this beautiful and sunny autumn day speaking the names of the dead and making offerings of food, nature treasures, and blessings. There was a lot of curiosity and interest the learning of the day, and I feel blessed to have been a part of their learning experience.
Some of the more memorable and impactful moments of the day were around the sacred space we held for Kendra James, a newborn baby, and a newly filled gravesite.
We ended the day with late afternoon playground time and the gathering and investigation of the fall season. We also did some shadow play with the afternoon sun. The light of this time of year is so enchanting, and we were able to begin some conversations around shadow and light, both materially and metaphorically, that we will build on in future curriculum.
Enjoy our photo journal the day's adventures and learning.
We shared some really beautiful moments today!
