Hey there friends!
I woke up and felt like doin' some painting so I set up our art studio for us and we had a grand ol' time just chillin', listening to music, making music, chatting, and painting the morning away.
When we felt done enough making and creating, we headed outside to run our bodies around some. I putzed around the garden a bit while the kiddos enjoyed some free play and bike games. We worked together to reinforce the border around one of our raspberry patches and found a bunch of interesting things to investigate and observe as we did, and talked about how excited we were to eat the berries that will be growing in abundance come summer. Everyone felt real good about contributing to the magic of summer time berries and the growing of them. And of course we took time to honor the beauty of the blooming tulips around the gardens.
We played and worked outside until we got hungry and then headed inside for our lunch. The group had some more free play time while I served us up and set the table.
I worked on some ceder fibers while the group sat for lunch, and made just a teeny~tiny bit of progress towards the supply we'll be needing for our summer camp crafts ( finally got around to remembering to do it and you all get an extended peek into our sweet lunch time sessions today )
After sitting for lunch some of the group headed back outside while I cleaned up and got the babes ready for their nap. Cora and I had the whole place to ourselves for a few and Cora took the opportunity to emulate me at the piano with the Twinkle~Twinkle tune I had been practicing earlier. Sooper~dooper sweet!
After sending the babes off to dream land, I joined the group back outside to just sit for a few, watch their play, and see what the birds and the plants were up to.
After a bit we took a break from the rain and the group fell into some highly imaginative birthing play. I sat with my tea and settled in for a good show, their birthing play and the stories they generate are always so curious for me. Today i noticed that somehow the idea of birthing on yer back had gotten introduced to the group for the first time. I'd never seen them use that position in their birthing play before so I was extra curious. Musta been something someone saw somewhere i suppose...no one really knew where the idea came from. We talked for a moment about the birth squat, silly hospital doctors, and how much more helpful of a birthing position squatting is, and all was right in our birthing play once more.
There were no less than 15 births of creatures of all sorts, and curiously enough, sibyl and lorax shape shifted into lions and ate all the the creatures they just birthed...true story.
As I said, their story line can be so very curious and entertaining. From an early childhood development perspective, they give me so many things to think and ponder on every time they roll around with the birthing stories.
The end of our time crept up on us and it was time to say goodbye so we shared a brief goodbye ritual before parting company for the day.
Thanks for a lovely day of play today!
Enjoy our photo journal of the day and the birthing stories I was able to capture on video.
